Chris Perkin

Chris leads the team at West Coast Health and High Performance with over 20 years of experience in the field of sports physiotherapy.

He has been one of the directors at Body Logic Physiotherapy for over 10 years and worked with the West Coast Eagles Football club for over 15 years.

Chris holds the Specialist Sports Physiotherapy title and is an expert in the field of sport injuries and ongoing pain related problems.

Chris is happy to see all types of problems and enjoys helping people return to their normal activities whether that be sport, work or normal daily tasks.

He has had a strong background in WA sport working in the past  with many various teams including – Wildcats Basketball, Australian Hockey, WAIS track and field / pole vault and several local teams.

Chris enjoys teaching in the field of injury and performance and offers consulting to many various teams, physio’s and insurance companies for second opinions on client’s cases.

Adding to this Chris has 2 children who keep him active and he also enjoys running, getting to the gym and connecting with his local football club at North Beach where he holds life membership.

Lara Mitchinson

Lara is an APA titled Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist having completed an undergraduate degree in Physiotherapy with honours (Curtin University, 2010) and a Masters of Clinical Physiotherapy majoring in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy (Curtin University, 2018).

Lara is the physiotherapist for the West Coast Eagles Football Club WAFL team and has been a sports trainer at AFL level since 2010. She was a part of the grand final team in 2018.

Lara has a background working across a wide range of sports including AFL, baseball, netball and touch rugby.  She is involved in athlete screenings, along with injury treatment, rehabilitation, and prevention. She was previously the head physiotherapist for Trinity Aquinas Amateur Football Club.

Lara has experience with treating a wide range of musculoskeletal and sports injuries, ranging from acute to chronic in presentation. She also has expertise in gym based exercise rehabilitation.

Away from work Lara is a keen netballer and runner herself.

Marika Hart

Marika graduated from Curtin University in 2000 and has worked in London, Melbourne and Perth. She completed her MSc (Manual Therapy) in 2006 and is a Titled Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist.

After working in the musculoskeletal and sports fields for 15 years, she developed a passion for women’s health and created a business teaching pre and postnatal exercise classes. Marika has a passion for helping women (and men!) stay fit and active throughout their lives.

She particularly enjoys finding creative ways to help people with pain or pelvic floor dysfunction return to activities that bring them joy – whether that be weightlifting, football, running… or whatever!

Marika has developed an online pregnancy program (Herasphere) and is a curriculum developer and expert adviser for the world-renowned Girls Gone Strong. She is currently completing her Masters in Clinical Physiotherapy (Continence and Women’s Health). She has two children that keep her busy, and enjoys taekwondo, hiking and snowboarding.

Steve Allan

Steve is an APA Titled Sports Physiotherapist having completed his Physiotherapy degree at Curtin University, before studying his Masters in Sports Physio at Latrobe University in Melbourne. He is also currently completing a degree in Sports Management.

Steve has recently returned to Perth where he has taken the role of Head Physio of the Australian Olympic Women’s Hockey Team (Hockeyroos). Prior to this he spent 5 years in Melbourne working full time with the Melbourne Football Club as a Physio. He has significant experience in Perth before his Melbourne stint working in a range of sports including football, cricket and tennis.

He has a special interest in treating all sports injuries of both the upper and lower limbs, as well as back and neck pain.


Outside of work Steve has a young family who he enjoys spending time with as well as a very unsuccessful local cricket career.

 

Phoebe Freeman

Phoebe graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours) from the University of Newcastle in 2012. Her Honours research focused on Predisposing risk factors for Hamstring and Quadriceps muscle strain injuries. She was invited to present her research at both national and international conferences, including the World Congress of Physical Therapy and the Sports Medicine Australia Conference. Phoebe is currently in her final year of Masters of Sports Physiotherapy through La Trobe University.

Phoebe has experience working with a number of sporting teams including National Junior Gold Rugby Union Program, Newcastle Knights Rugby League Junior Program, Hunter Hurricanes Waterpolo Team. She also worked with a number of local, representative, state and national teams as well as individual athletes in basketball, rugby union, swimming, athletics, cycling and triathlon.

Phoebe enjoys treating all types of sporting injuries but has a particular interest in treating the hip and shoulder, concussion management and Bikefits. While manual therapy is a key component of her treatment, Phoebe has a strong belief in the benefits and importance of exercise rehabilitation.

Phoebe is be running morning yoga classes and offering bike fitting from West Coast Health and High Performance.

Outside of physiotherapy Phoebe enjoys teaching and practicing yoga, playing basketball, competing in triathlons and exploring the West Coast.
